The Mount Hood Community College Saints Invitational took place on November 4th in Portland, Oregon. Four teams broke to semifinals all earning legs to state; like the Wilson Invitational, the Saints Invitational opted out of a final round and allowed a tie for first place and a tie for third place based on the semifinals.

In one semifinal round, Gresham-Barlow’s Kayden Doering & Kanen McReynolds defeated Hood River Valley’s Emily Mitchell & Mason Leavitt.  In the other round, Lake Oswego’s Jonathan Meinhardt & Joseph Lantow defeated Cleveland’s Quinn Samouilidis & Henry Hawking. Gresham-Barlow’s Doering & McReynolds were on the affirmative side, while Lake Oswego’s Meinhardt & Lantow were on the negation.  Both of the rounds debated the resolution that “The US should substantially increase its resources for disaster preparedness.”

The tournament held three preliminary rounds, and all four teams that broke went undefeated. With 33 entries in open parliamentary debate, the Saints Invitational tied with the Wilson invitational for the biggest tournament in northern Oregon thus far this season.
